SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS DECIDED

HELD YESTERDAY IN BLUE BATH

ROTORUA HIGH SCHOOL

Efficient organisation was again a feature of the Rotorua High School swimming sports which were -,y held in the Blue Baths yesterday, when the number of competitors for the various events demonstrated the progress which has been made in this important section of the sporting activities of the school. The sports commenced early in the morning, when the girls events were decided and concluded in the afternoon with the boys events. In both sections the standard shown by the competitors was very high and proved the excellent work of the school's swimming coaches.

In the afternoon a large attend- j ance of parents and supporters of | the school closely followed the decision of the events and interest ran hig'h as the hcuse and school championship points flnctuated with the decision of each race. In the girl's section a clear-eut victory was obtained by Trafalgar Ilouse by 132 points against the 56 secured by Agincourt for second, while the champions in the various classes were: Joan Ford (senior), Winnie Mitchell (interraediate) and Irene Ngatai (junior) . The competition for the boys' houso points was more closely contested and the issne was in doubt until the decision of the inter-house relays at the conclusion of the afternoon, which made the issue Raleigh 56 points, Frobisher 51, Nelson 465 and Drake 31£. In the boys senior championship J. Rogers was successful in winning the title with 18 points, with L. Simpson, 15 points, second. The intermediate title was won by A. Kingi with 20 points and the junior by E. Rogers with 18 points. The following were among the visitors, parents and ex-pupils present during the afternoon. Mrs. W. G. Harwood, Mrs. F. C.
