RECALLED BY DEATH OF BARONESS DE THIERRY AGED 100 YEARS BIG- LAND CLAIM

Auckland, Wednesday Baroness Mary Jane de Thierry died at her home to-day, aged! 100 years. She was a daughter-in-law of the famons Baron Charles de Thierry who arranged in 1823 to acquire a tract of 40,000 aeres from the Maoris - along the shore of Hokianga Harbour while he was Still in Eifgland and eventually arrived in NeW Zealand with his family to suhstan,tiate his claim. _ ' " This claim was disallowed hy the British- Government and the land Kolding was reduced to a relatiVely : few dcres hy the MaOri chiefs.' -
