The Govnrnment meteorolonist is■ued the followiiig weather report and forecaet last night: — General situation: A rather deep depression is loeated north of the Dominion but an intensive anticyclone centred east of the South Island covers the southern portion. Winds: S'outh easterlies pre.vailing at first, light to moderate over the South Island. Fresh to strong from Cook Strait northWards. Gale force in the far north, but decreasing. Tending northerly tomorrow. Weather: Some misty rain north of Auckland and in scattered parts of the East Coast ,of the North Island. Otherwise fair to fine. Temperatures warm.
