The' prices were better than any that have ruled since the beginning pf the 1929r30 season. Half-bred and the better class- of prqssbred wool averaged between 12d and 13d pep lb., t}ie general ayerage Pv.er the wfiole sale being estimated at from 10(j tp lld ■ per lb. The average prjce a bale was in the yipinity pf £13. • At tfie last Auckland sale in March the" average price per lb was less than- 4d and the average price a bale £5 3s 2d, thp lowest recprded in recept yearg. A tptal of 23, 768 bales was offered, .and there was almost a total clparance. It is expected that the province received pver £300,000 for the wool dis.posed of yesterdfiy, compared w«th a return pf £341,887 for th.e three saies last season. The average price a bale at the sale last March, when values reached their lowest level, was £5 3s 2d, the aggregate return being £61,318.' At the opening sale last December £5 12s 3d a baie was received, the income from the auction being £132,118.
