POPULAR CRICKETER
PRESENTATION TO PLAYER AT A S S OCIATION MEETING MR. LENIHAN FAREWELLED Opportunity was taken during a mianagement committee meeting of ! the Rotorua Cricket Association on J Monday evening to make a presenta- | tion to Mr. F. J. Lenihan on behalf of the association and the Albion Club. Mr. Lenihan, who is sh'ortly leaving the district, has captained the Albion club for a number of seasons and is probably one of the best all-round players in the district, and his experienced captaincy of this club has contrihuted largely to its excellent record during recent seasons. His undoubted ability has also been recognised hy his selection to the captaincy of Rotorua and Bay of Plenty teams and it was mainly due to his efforts that a challenge match for th'e Hawke Gup wias played two years ago between Bay of Plenty and South Auckland. In making the presentation, Mr. H. L. Musgrave, made eulogistic reference to Mr. Lenihan's qualities, both as a cricketer and as a gentleman, and expressed the regret of cricketers at the loss which the game would suffer by his departure. The remarks of the chairman were supported by delegates of all afiiliated cluhs, wh'o remarked on the sportsmanlike qualities which Mr. Lenihan had at all times displayed during his residenee in the town. IMr. Lenihan suitably responded and expressed the hope that at some future date he would again have the opportunity of meeting local players i in the field of play.
