Tho Govflrnmont metoorolojpat latued ths following weather report and forecast last night: — General situatioii : A shallow depression is passing to the north Pf New Zealand. A moderate anticyclone covers the Tasman Sea and the southern portion .of the Dominion. Winds: South to east, fresh to strong north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, but decreasing. Otherwise light to moderate tending to northerlies later over the South Island. Weather: Still cloudy, some showers over eastern and northern districts of the North- Island, but improving. Elsewhere fine. Temperatures cool with a few frosts inland, but milder to-morrow. Following are the barometer, maxlrnum and minimum thermometerf sunshine, and rainfall readinga reporded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.pi. yesterday. Barometer 30.043deg. Thermometer (max.) 73.8d'eg. Thermometer (min.) 59.9deg. Thermometer (min on grass) 54.2deg Rainfall .... nil Bright Sunshine 8.4hrs.
