YOUNG MEN'S LAPSE
ONE GIVEN THREE YEARS CONFINEMENT IN BORSTAL Auckland, Monday. Terence Moncrieff Nixon 22) and Cyril Robert Hankins (25), who were arrested in Australia in October for stealing £795, the property of the Labour Department at Auckland, were sentenced to-day by Mr. Justice Smitb. He said Nixon's downfall .appeared to be due1 to gamlbling. It was the old, old story. His theft was deliberate and probation. was impossible. He would be detained in a Borstal Institute for three years. Regarding Hankins, His Honour said he was not a party to the actual theft, but had shared in the money and thereby became a party. He would he admitted to probation for three years, on condition that he paid £100 to the Labour Department durhis probation period-
