SWIMMING CARNIVAL
TWO AUSTRALIAN CHAMIPIONS TO APPEAR IN ROTORUA ON DECEMBER 13 INTERESTING PROGRAMME . Arrangements for the appe,arance of two visiting Australian women swimmers, Misses Francis Bult and Glaire Dennis, at a earnival to be held in the Blue Baths on December 13 were finalised at a meeting of the executive of the Rotorua Swimming Club held on Friday evening. An excellent programme of events Was abnanged, including a contest between W. Wlhareaitu and Miss Bultand an exhibition polo match between two Rotorua ladies' teams, which have been training diligently for some months under the tuition of the swimming coach, Mr. J. B. Perrin. As it is understood that this will be the first occasion on which ladies' teams have played water polo at a swimming earnival in the Do•minion, the display should prove a very interesting novelty. The following programme was arranged: — Boys' handieap, 33 l-3yds, (under 14); girls handieap (under 14), 33 1-3 yds; boys handieap (under 18), 33 l-3yds; girls' handieap (under 18),
33 l-3jyds; ladies' novice handieap, (openi to any competitor who has not won a race), 33 l-3yds; ladies' handieap, 66 2-3yds; ladies' handieap, 100yds; men's handieap, 33 l-3yds; men's handicajp, 66 2-3yds; men's handieap, 100yds; men's handieap, 220yds;. ladies' diving; men's diving; dual relay; blindfold race; candle race; inter-club relay; men's club championship (first distance for Speedo Cup), 66 2-3yds; ladies' club championship (first distance for Richards' Rosebowl), 33 l-3yds; champion of champions, district primary schools (boys and girls), interschool relay; hreaststroke invitation scr,atch race, 100yds (Miss Claire Dennis, world's O'lympic, Australian, and New South Wales hreaststroke cahmpion, paced by H. Wilkinson, Rotorua) ; invitation race, 100yds, (Mjss Francis Bult, 100 and 200yds Australian champion and record holder and W. Wlhareaitu, Rotorua, 50 y,ards New Zealand record holder). exhibition race, 100yds, Misses C. Dennis and F. Bult); water polo exhibition match by Rotorua ladies' team. Entries for these events will close with Mr. L. Fisher, Fenton Street, on Saturday, December 9, at 9 p.m.
