BRITISH COURTS ESTABLISH A NEW RECORD IN PETITIONS DISCONTENTED WIVES

Rec. 9.15 p.m. London, Nov. 21. British judges last year dealt with 5638 divorce petitions, which is the highest since official statistics were compiled in 1908, dissolving no fewer than 3925 marriages, of which 2271 were on the petitions of wives. Sir G. Cobbe, chairman of the Marriage Law Reform League, says that the main reason for the increase as that the wife can now sue for pivorce on equal grounds with the husband.
