Excursion rates of recent years now apply all the time — less than a penny a mile, se-cond-class, and a slight fraction over a penny, first-class. On certain special occasions these low fares are further cut, and always there are special concessions available for families, picnic parties and other parties. The men I had at Whaka ' were men who knew they had to pull | their weight or get out and I am j pleased to say that in only one case I had I any reason for eonrplaint. The 1 rest of theMnen were remarkable."
