Tha Govarnment meteoro!o{pst issued tha following weather report and forecast laet ni?ht: — General situation: While a westerly depression has been crossin'g the South Island an extensive cyclone has been advancing over the northern Tasman Sea. A slight anti-cyclone extends from Tasmania across the South Tasman Sea. Winds: Moderate to strong generally Teaching gale force at plaees. Southerlies over the south half of the South Island and up the east coast to Cook Strait. Elsewhere north-westerlies. Southerlies or south-easterlies becoming general within the next 24 hours. Weather: Unsettled, dull and misty. General rain likely with some heavy falls. Thunder in plaees. Temperatures mild in the North Island and becoming cold in the South Island.
