TOURIST TRAFFIC
INDICATIQNS FOR THIS SEASON ARE VERY PROMISING "LURLINE" FULLY BOQKED Th'e district manager of the Tourist Department (Mr. L. J. Bayfeild) who has just returned from a trip to "Wellington and the South Island, states that all the indications point to a noticeable increase in the Dominion's tourist traffic this year. His department had had an exceptional number of inquiries and it was expected that Rotorua would receive its full share "of the influx. Mr. Bayfeild stated th'at he had interviewed Mr. Neil IWIalker, New Zealand representative of the Matson Line who had informed him that the Lurline would arrive in February fully boolced and with a waiting list of over 100. Last season when this ship visited the Dominion it was only half hooked. Next month, a visit to the Dominion would he paid by Mr. Ryan, chief passenger manager of the Matson Company together with Mr. Pippin, Australian representative. It is understood that the object of Mr. Ryan's visit is to gain first hand information regarding the Dominion's attractions. Both gentlemen will spend sonie •time in the country for that purpose.
