A moderate westerly depression is advancing across the south Aasman Sea, while a cyclone is located off the New South Wales coast. Forecast: Winds, fresh northerlies to north-westerlies reaching gale force in places, backing to southerlies in the South Island V/ithin the next 24 to 36 hours. Weather: Cloudy to overcast in western districts from Taranaki southwards with rain developing. Elsewhere fair at first, but unsettled conditions gradually extending over the Dominion with fairly general rain likely within the next two days. TemperatUres warm but becoming cooler in the south to-mor-row.
