— By Telegraph— Copyright).

New York, Nov. 16. Whether or not the black widow spider is poisonous to human beings has been answered with a loud affirmative by Dr. Alan Blair, an associate of the professor of medicine at Alabama University. Dr. Blair allowed an insect to bite his little finger. ' He stated he felt a sharp pain in the hand which later spread to the shoulder. He thought his symptorns would end there, but a few moments later he was seized with violent abdominal cramps, and blood pressure and sank rapidly. Though in extreme pain he refused narcotics until the reaetions had been registered on an electro-cardigroph table. The ordeal over, Dr. Blair took to his bed and suffered two days' intense pain. To-day he is back at his home weak and pale, but convinced that the spider's bite is poisonous.
