MATAMATA The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., reports: — At our f ortnightly Matamata stock sale sheep were yarded in small numbers, and
sold at prices equal to last sale. The cattle yarding comprised a heavy entry of fat and fresh-conditioned cows and potter bulls. Competition from export buyers was keener in all classes than at late saies, and a rise in all classes can be recorded. Again a full yarding of pigs came forward, being mostly fat pigs of good quality. Competition was keen for all classes. A line of 55 baconers averaged £2 14s. Quotations : — Sheep. — Fat, shorn ewes, 13s ld to 14s; fat woolly hoggets, 18s 3d to 19s 6d. Cattle. — Medium fat heifers, £3 16s to £4 3s; medium fat cows, £3 3s to £4 ls; light fat cows, £2 10s to £2 17s 6d; fresh-conditioned cows, 38s I to £2 5s; heavy boners, 28s to 35s; light boners, 16s to 25s; two-year empty heifers, 28s to 35s; 15 months Jersey heifers, r.w.b., £2 12s to £2 17s 6d; service bulls, £4 5s to £5; heavy potter bulls, £5 to £6 15s; medium weight potter bulls, £3 7s 6d to £4 12s 6d; light weight potter bulls, 25s to £2 12s 6d.
