Hastings, Thursday. A death from drowning while endeavouring to rescue two girls who were bathing occurred this afternoon, the victim being Ian Murray Schultze, aged 16 years. Shultze, together with his elder brother, had been swimmin.g in a pool in the vicinity of Pukehou, 20 miles from Hastings, and had dressed. While in the neighhourhood, fwo girls who had gone in bathip,g qfter the lads left the water, got into difficulties. Both boys, who were fully clothed, ran to the rescue. The girls and the elder Schultze managed to regain safety, but the young Schultze was. drowned. His body was later recovered.
