TWO WHITE MEN KILLED AND THEIR CUTTER BURNED HOSTILE ARNHEM NATIYES

Darwin, November 15. Blacks of Arnhem Land speared to •death two white men, Frank Traynor and W. Fagan, who have been reported missing since February. Definite news of the tragedy came from F. Carr, a Darwin trepanger. The men were surprised aboard their cutter, which was stripped, beached, and burnt. It is believed that the killers were the Caledon Bay blacks who had previously murdered five Japanese trepangers and Constable McColl. Arnhem Land is a peninsula region belonging to the Commonwealth Territory of North Australia, so called from the ship of the Dutch navigat.ors Who discovered it in 1618.
