Wage Restoration Desired The New Plymouth Municipal Tramways and Omnibus Employees' Union has written to the borough council x-equesting a restoration of portion of the reduction made in wages. The council cannot accede to the request and the union is to be informed that the council adheres to its previous decision on the matter. Riddle of the Unexpected "What would you do if, when riding a motor-cycle at night along a road at 30 miles per hour, you suddenly came upon a woman with a pex*ambxxlator?" asked Mr. H. B. Lusk, counsel for defendant, of a witness in the S'upreme Court at Napier, during the hearing of a claim for damages arising out of an accident on the Napier-Hastings road. "I would stop and tell her to go home," replied the witness, amid laughter. "Yes, I supose you would, being a welfare oificer," responded Mr. Lusk, "but wouldn't it rather depend on the age of the woman?"
