A broken front spring may be a rare occurrence on modem cars. Should a motorist have the msifortune to hreak one when travelling over a very rough road, necessitating a temporary repair, the following hint will be useful: — ' Instead of adopting the unusual method of fitting a small block of wood between the spring and the chassis frame, it is better to roll up a spare inner tube (preferably an old one),' and bind it with string, then strap or hind it to the spring in the same way as with a wood block.
