FISH POACHERS FLEE
(Press Assn.-
inspection boat defied by fast little craft WARSHIPS REQUISITIONED
— By Telegraph — Copyright).
(Rec. Nov. 13, 9.35 p.m.) London, Nov. 13. A sensational episode is reported from the outer Hebrides. While the trawler Doon, was carrying out fisheries inspection duty, she stopped two fishing boats suspected of illegal fishing. Two British Officers boarded one boat while two naval ratings were sent to the other. Directly the latter were aboard the boat, however, it made made off at full speed, outdistancing the pursuing Doon. Radio messages were flashed to Campbelltown and the destrayer, Viceroy and the cruiser, Minnow, joined in the chase, but failed to overtake the trawler. She is believed to be a French vessel and has probably taken refuge in one of the numerous inlets of the Hebrides.
