(Rec. 7 p.m.) London, Novemher 6. Following the banning of a meeting in Smithfield Square, Belfast, as a protest against th'e detention in Belfast gaol of Republican Army suspects, the police made repeated baton charges on the crowd amid shouts of "The Republic and Up with De Valera." The police arrested the chairman and four others. Armoured cars suhsequently patrolled th'e streets.
