IMPRESSIVE FUNERAL
REMAINS OF LATE W. H. TUCKER CONVEYED TO LAST RESTING PLACE An impressive scene was witnessed yesterday afternoon when members of the Rotorua Fire Brigade accorded full brigade honours to the funeral of their late comrade, William Henry Tucker, a life member of the brigade, who passed away on Wednesday morning at his residence in Eruera Street. The respect in which the deceased gentleman was held was demonstrated by the representative ! gathering of citizens who followed : the cortege to the Rotorua cemetery, | among them being Councillor F. | Goodson (representing the Rotorua ! Fire Board), Councillor L. Woolliams, I Senior-Sergeant E. J. Carroll, the | traffie inspector, Mr. D. M. Ford, and many other friends of the deceased. Foliowing a short service at deceased's late residence, conducted by Archdeaeon F. W. Chatterton, his rejnains together with his brigades- ; man's helmet and axe, were borne to ! the waiting hearse by members of the brigade and the cortege moved off • with his comrades forming a guard of honour at each side of the hearse. | At the cemetery the brigade again : provided the pallbearers and followj ing the burial service conducted by ; the Rev. Archdeaeon Chatterton, a I touching scene was provided when j Superintendent T. Anderson read the ' special last rites to which the late Mr. Tucker was entitled by his membership of the brigade. Among the j many beautiful floral emblems was | one provided by members of the brij gade.
