^ ■ V ^ , •Thursclay of last week marked the ,'birth of another year for the Rotorua Girl Guides, and the occasion was marked by a most enjoyable birthday party given 'by ladies of the comrnittee,, ' , ' - • *i • ' / ♦ i The evening was principally devoted to 'items given i by 'the (guides*"; themselves, the prognamme 'being opened by Betty: Tysori,* whose' siriging of "Stajr' in-;Yotir "Own Backyard" proved very popular. An excellent exhibition of folk dancing by the guide company was followed by a recitati'on by Stella Jones. Other items were given. by Jbyce "Wjindler, Nbel Piper^ Miarie Garth 'and Paddy Windlef. lOrne of the nnaiin events of the evening was the "enrollmentr of the new ■guide eomimittee for the ensuing year, and this was .carried out with full guide ritual.' At the- conclusion of thiaj ceremony, a very dainty supper was served by the comimdttee. A prom'ineht fea'tur e was a beautiful birthday rnke mad.e by Mrs. J. Tanner.
