FARMER ADMITTED TO TERM * OF PROBATION FOR * SHEEP STEALING RATHER SAD CIRCUMSTANCES (Press Assn.— By Telegrapli— Copyright). Hamilton, Wednesday Frank Albert Loft,"aged 44 years, a farmer of Korokonui, was "convicted, "admitted to" two "years probation and ordered to make restitution in the Magistrate's Court to-day when he Was ehaTged with'stealing seven sheep valued at £7 17s 6d the property bf Rangi Kay, a neighbouring farmer. Remarking that it was not the or--dinary case of sheep stealing and that the circumstanees were rather pathetic, Detective A. J. White stated that Loft had an; unblemished career prior to the present offenee. He was in indigent circumstanees and had killed the sheep to provide food for his wife ahd family. Accused was a victim of shell" shock during the War ahd his Wif e was also in poor health. He had been' tob proud to ask his heighbours for help.
