RETAIL TRADERS REFUSE TO MAKE ANY REDUCTION TOO LOW NOW

Sydney, October 24. Tbe Retail Traders' Association of New South Wales recommended to its members that the 2s basic wage reduction be not appiied. Thus far 11 Sydney firms have deelared tbat they will not reduce the wages of their staffs in conformity with the new declaration. S'ome state that they consider the wage now paid too low and the rdduction would affect the spending power of the community. The Premier, Mr. B. S. Stevens, will consult his ministerial colleagues today to determine the Government's policy regarding the new basic wage.
