The Gov«rnment mefeorolofpst lesued the following weather report and forecast Sast nifht: — General Situation : An ' anticyclone of moderate intensity extends from the northern Tasman to the Chathams. A rather deep westerly depression is advancing across the Tasman. Winds: Moderate to strong. Freshening northerly winds in and about Cook Strait. Elsewhere moderate to strong but veering to the south. Southerlies gradually extending northwards. V/eather: Fine in most districts but showers develtfping in the west and in coastal districts of southern Otago and Southland. Cold temperatures to-night with some frosts inland. Following are the barorhetcr, maxlmum'and minimum thermometir, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Sta* tion by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the. 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.
