ROTORUA WINS MATCH WITH MAMAKU CLUB

LABOUR DAY GAMES Despite cold a.nd blust&ring weather a team from the Rotorua Tennis Club had a very enjoyahle day at Mamaku yesterday when a match was played against members of the Mamaku ' Club. The visitors were entertained at luncheon and afternoon tea by the •local ladies' commiftee and were enthusiastic in their praise of the hospitality accorded to them. Though Rotorua won the series rather easily, the games were by no means one-sided, and, considering the weather conditions some very good

tennis was witnessed. Results were as follows, Mamaku names being meritioned first in each case: — Ladies Singles: Mrs. Thorne beat Miss Kmight, 7-3; Miss McGarthy last to Mrs. Guy, 1-7; Mjrs. Reed lost to Mlrs. Cla.y, 5-7; Miss Kinigi beat Miss Ford, 7-2. Men's Singles: F. Reed lost to I. Selby, 8-9; B. Thomei lost to N. Clay, 4-9; G. Simmlonds lost to J. Cunningharn, 5-9; W. Carter lost to A. Harron, 6-9; C. Duncan lost to H. Langgu'th, 1-9; T. Patterson lost to E. G. Guy, 1-9. Combined Doubles: Mrs. Thorne and F. Reed beat I. S-elby and Miss Knight 7-2; M|iss McCarthy and B. Thorne lost to N. Clay and Mrs. Clay, 4-7. Mrs. Reed and G. Simmonds lost to Mjrs. Guy and J. Cunningham, 4-7; Miss King and W. Carter beat M]iss Ford. and Harron, 7-4. Ladies Doubles: Mirs. Thorne and Miss McCarthy lost to Miss Knight land Mrs. Guy, 3-7; Mrs. Reed and Miss King beat Mrs. Clay and Mjiss Ford, 7-3. Men's Doubles: F. Reed and B. Thome lost to I. Selby and N. Clay, 6-9; G. Simimonds and W. Cdrter lost to J. Cunningham and A. Harron, 4-9; C. Duncan iand F. Patterson lost to E. G. Guy and H. Lanigiguth, 4-9. Total: Mamaku: 91 games, 5 matches; Rotorua, 130 games, 14 amatches.
