MURDER IN IRELAND
ARMED GANGSTERS ATTACK AND FATALLY WOUND POLICEMAN FIRED A FUSILLADE Belfast, October 15. Deportation to„the Irish Free State is expected to be the fate of many of those arrested in connection with the murder of Constable Anderson last week-end. Declaring that it was a "coldblooded, dastardly, wanton and unspeakably vile erime," the coroner returned a verdict of "murdered by persons unknown." The attests were made when police in armoured cars xounded up members of the Irish Republican Army. Constable Fahy gave evidence that with Anderson he was guarding the house of a man recently the victim of an outrage when three masked men with revolvers rushed from a corner shouting, "Put 'em up!" They fired a fusilade at Anderson, who staggered into a doorway, dying. Fahy threw himself on the ground and returned the fire of the assailants who decamped. The raid lasted seven hours. Thirtyf our were arrested, many abed. A large crowd gathered. Those arrested have not yet been charged.
