LOAD SLiPS ON HILL. This is the true story of a motorlorry that sat on its tail. It happenefi recently on a hill leading from the Brent crossing on the North Circular Road to Hendon, London, N.W. The lorry was heavily laden with timber which overhung the taiiboard, Jolting and rolling apparently caused part of the load to slide backwards, and its weight made the lorry see-saw on its hind wheels. Finally it levered the tail gently to the ground, while the whole front rose about 4ft. clear in .the air. A man got out and climb ed on to the radiator, where he clung trying to weigh dowft the front to its normal position. Half a dozen passersby came to his help, but even their added weight had no effect. Then a polieeman joined them, and his weight was just sufficient to bring the front wheels down again. Still with five men perched on and around the radiator, the lorry ftioved up the hill to a level spot, where the load was safely trimmed.
