A NEW HATCHERY
MINISTER STATES MONEY NOT AVAILABLE FOR PROVISION ROD AND GUN CLUB PROPOSAL iSuggestaons were recenlttly made hy the Rotorua Rod and Gun Club to the Minister of Internal Affairs that the supply of fry for the lakes of the d'isitrict would be better served by .the provision of a new hatchery on a site at the back of Ngongotaha Mountain. It was considered by the club that the present. hatchery facilities at Ngongotaha were insuffieient to adequately supply liberations of fry for >such a large district and that the site selected would prove ideal for -the purpose on accouait of its natural surroundings and the presence of a spring nearby. Representations on these- lines were communicated to the Minister by the ■hon. secretary, Mr. C. Anaru, who1 has • inow received a reply stating that the suggestion had been given full considieratiqn but that the present financi'al difficulties of the Government did not perm-it of the scheme being put into .operation. There is nothing in the reply to andicate wbether or not the proposal was favourably received by the department or if it will receive further consideration when pirflttiYi TTPlMjflfc in ' -
