Wellington, Wednesday The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, to-night held an investiture at Parliament. House. After presenting the Colonial Auxiliary Forces officer's decoration to Colonel, the Honourable John Rankin Reed, .C.B.E., His Ex;cellency conferred the honour of . knighthood upon Colonel, Sir . Step'hen Shepherd Allen, C.M.G., D.S.O., V.D., investing him with the insignia, of a Knight Commander of the British Empire and presenting to Sir William Perry, Sir Joseph Benjamin George Smith, C.I.E., and Sir Hugh Thomas Dyke-Ackland, C.B.E., C.M.G. F.R.C.S., Royal letters patent conferring upon them the degree, title and dignity of Knight Bachelors. His Excellency also px-esented the insignia of Companions of the Order of St. Michael and St. George* to Messrs James Marchbanks, J. S. Barton and T. Lindsay Buick and the badge of a Cofripanion of the Imperial Service Order to Mr. Theophilus Benjamin Strong, M.A., B.Ss. The investiture was followed by a reception at which a large number of guests was presented to Theix* Excellencies.
