— By Telegraph — Copyright).
Auckland, Wednesday At the concluding session of the Baptist Union, a resolution was carried strongly protesting against the prevalence of gambling and criticising the publicity given "those who smuggled money out of the country and the winners of foreign lottery prizes." A resolution in favour of international disarmament was passed and the stricter censorship of films and posters was called for. It was decided to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the Rev. J. Spurgeon in July of next year and it was resolved to aim at the doubling of the church membership by a discipleship campaign in the coming year. The next assembly will be held in Wellington in order that the jubilee of the Missionary Society may be celebrated in Dunedin where the society was founded in 1885.
