ENCOURAGING A NUISANCE
PEOPLE WHO FEID PIGEONS. T t . "Kindhearted but misguided persons," who make a practice of f'eeding pigeons, are criticised by Dr. G. Sow•den, medical officer of health for St. Pancras, in his annual report. Dr. Sowden states that eomplaints were received about the" nuisance caused by the existence of so mahy . pigeons, which damaged property. Local authorities' iri -London have power to seize ahd destroy or sell pigeons, but, states the report, in practice the section is very difficult ' to operate. "The prevalence of the birds is encouraged by the practice of feeding them adopted by so many kindhearthd but misguided persons, and for the same reaSon the use of traps has proved :'a failure. The' birds; being so well f ed, will not enter the traps to ohtain the food. In a number of hases the traps have eith'er been removed or interfered with hy these misguided persons, who,- doubtless owing to ignorance, object' to the destruction of these birds." -- " '
