Cattle Ruin Track

A great deal of work recently carried out hy officers of the Internal Arfairs Department .in cutting tracks through the scrub to the fishing reaches ahove the Huka Falls on the Wlaikato River has been ruined hy the continuous passage of a large mob of wild cattle which is at present in the vicinity. The paths were clcared .in order to permit anglers to reach the- river immediately above the falls and were fascined with manuka scrub while small culverts were also constructed for drainage purposes. The path opened up a very popular stretch of fishing water and was regularly used by anglers during the fishing .season. Ihe movement of the cattle during the winter, however, has transformed the track into a quagmire and it will he necessary to carry out considerable repair work before it can he used again.-
