Wellington, Tuesday. The national executive of the Labour Pafty has issued the following stdtement: — A meeting of repres'eptatives .of all trade unions and ■ Labour Party hranches- in the Buller electorate was held at Westport during the w.eekend. : • . The question of a successor.to the late Mr. H. E. Holland as the Labour candidate for Buller was fully discussed, and it was decided^ to submit four names for the considera.tion of the national executive, with whom, according to the Labour Party's constitution, fests the final decision in res^ect to the selection of a. candidate at a'by-electio'n. The representatives present . unanimously'resolved to support whicheVer of the f our nominees wpuld. be selected by the national executive. " The four names forwarded were: JiieSjSrs. P. C. Webb, J. Smeaton, R. HoUahd and J. Thorn. The national executive met.. this morning. Two of the me.n whose names were submitted by the Westport meeting Were not available as candidates. - , Mf. P: C. Webb was selected, and will contest the seat in the interests of Labour. '
