Under the influence of disturbing news abroad, and higher quotations for the dollar in terms' of foreign currencies, heavy selling of stocks to-. day resulted in losses of from 8 to 9 points on the Stock Exchange, whereas Chicago dropped to the limit permitted on a single day's tra.ding. Other commodities followed a similar trend, many breaking new low levels. The gold value of the dollar opened at 71.40 following the high level of 73.55 in Paris, but closed at 69.94 which point is 25 over Saturday's close.
