MAJESTIC THEATRE
TO-NIGHT. Britons are prover.hially a nation •of sportsmen >and the producer of a big racing film has t0 take speeial care to have all the details right. In "Kissing' Cup's Raee," which opened last night, the many scenes of riding, racing, polo and other sports are either the real thing or the next : best. A famous Epsom racing stable was plaeeci at Castleton Knight's disposal when producing this film, horses, jockeys and stahle lads entering enthusiastic'ally into the spirit of the advehture. Even the stable cat obliged with ;a fine litter of kittens just to add a picturesque touch. Simi- ' larly inembers of the Stoke D'Abernon Polo Club staged an exciting ' match, with John Stuart and Stewart Rome as rival players, and carefully steered the producer round any technical snags. Finally, at Windsor racecourse, ' where the immortal "Kissing Cup" carries her owner's colours to victory the authof-ities granted the producer r every possible facility. Crowd seenes were photographed during actual meetings, while only the patient joekeys know how many times they rode ' their faithful rnounts around the course before the final result had been achieved. The second feature, "Hallelujah, I'm a Iramp," was uot two minutes old when one could see at a glance that it bears out all the advance information about it. From the very beginning Jolson and his stellar supporting cast^put their story over in what, for want of a better term/ might he called "musical conversation." Perhaps "rhythm'ic dialogue" would be nearer the point.
