mr. de valera refuses request for a tribunal 1 SOME HEATED PASSAGES (
— By Telegraph — Copyright).
Duklin, Oct. 11. In the Dail, Mr. de Valera refused to establish the tribunal. General Mulcahy demanded to inquire into events leading to the allegation that he had conferred with Viscount Hailsham. The Opposition indignantly fusilladed Mr. de Valera with questions, General Mulcahy asking whether the Government's policy was to conceal a malicious slander or if Mr. de Valera simply wanted "this dirty tool for more dirty work." Mr. De Valera did not reply. Mr. de Valera recently alleged that General Mulcahy had interviewed Viscount Hailsham, S'ecretary of State for War. The assertion was promptly denied by the Viscount and also by General Mulcahy, who demanded that a tribunal should be set up to' investigate^ the source of the report. Mr. de Valera later caused a sensation by tendering an apology to General Mulcahy in the Dail, stating that he had found that his information was not correct, but he did not disclose the source whence it came.
