SMITHY ARRIVES AT ALOR STAR ON THE SIXTH DAY

Singapore, October 9. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith arrived at Alor Star (Malay States) at 5.20 this evening. He said he was fceling very well. When reminded tbat he was ahead of Flyinig-Officer C. W. S-cott's . time hy reaching Alor Star on the sixth day against Scott's seventh. Sir Charles said he was not out to break the record but wished to return- to Australia as soon as possible. He will leave at dayibreak on Tuesday. His next stop will be Batavia or Sourabaya. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith left Lympne, England, on his present flight at 5-.28 a.m. last Wednesday in a Percival Gull machine with a cruising range of 1600 miles and a speed of 140 , miles an hour. He arrived at Brindisi at 4.3.0 on the first day, Baghdad on Thursday, Gwadar on Friday, Karachi on Saturday and Akyab on Monday. He hopes to land at Darwin on Wednesday.
