-By Telegraph — Copyright).
(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) New York, October 8 Mr. Naylor, owner of Winooka, discussed a possible Winooka-Equipoise race at Belmont Park with Mr. Whitney, the owner of Equipoise and Mr. Harry Buck, secretary of the United Hunt Association here to-day. Afterwards, Mr. Naylor informed the Australian Press Association that the negotiations were nearing consummation." The difficulties encountered revolve round the weights and the distances. Mr. Naylor favours 7.2 and not more than 7 furlongs but Mr. Whitney wishes the weights to be 8.8 and the distance a mile. Mr. Naylor said that he would agree to the heavier weights but that he intended to insist upon his shorter distance.
