PLANTING OF LAWNS AS TOWN STREET FRONTAGES.
An objection on the score thgt a dangerous px-ecedent would be set up 'if the request was granted was raised by Cr. F. Goodson at Friday evening's meeting of the Rotorua Borough Council when a letter was rec;ived asking that the council lay down in lawn the frontage of a service station on Whaka Road. The writer of the letter stated that he had prepare d the plots for planting and would be glad is the council would complete the work. Cr. Goodson pointed out that the Golf Club, whose property was across the road, had itself carried out the preparation of lawns and the planting. If this request was granted, private owners in all parts of th'e town might make similar requests 'to the council. It was decided to refer the mafter back to the committee.
