Wellington, Saturday Government action stiffening up the penalties now prescribed for the unlawful "conversion" of motor cars may be expected at an early date. A pertinerit question on the subject was tabled in the House last week by ,Mr. J. Linklater (Coalition Reform, Manawatu) . Telegrams and letters from all over N'ew -Zealand supporting- his attitude have since come to hand. These , are likely to have an importhnt influence on the consideration Cabinet will shortly give to the revision'of the present penalties.
