PRESS COMMENT success a demonstration of confidence in dominion THE EXCHANGE RATE

-By Telegraph— Copyright).

(Rec. 5,0 p.m.) Lon'ddn, October 7. The Times says:— "The success of the Kew Zealand conversion issue will be doubly welcome" ih the Dominion. The saving will be important but an even greater help will be the moral eifect. It Will he taken rightly as a demonstration •of confidence and i't will also help to strengthen the position of the Government." Ih referring to the excharige r'ate, •the editor says: "The question may be regarded as finally s'ettled by the defeat of Mr. Wright's motion. This is clearly the view of Mr. Forbes and Mr. Coates who seem to be equally certain of suee'ess in gaining the support of Parliament for anothet criticised measure— the establishment *of a Gentral Bank. I.t is understood that this bank will' take over surplus London credits and that the right of Parliament to control the monetary policy of the country will be sarefully safeguarded."
