SIGNIFICANT ABSENCES OF SEVERAL OLD MEMBERS NOT INVITED

Wellington, Thursday The Cdalition held its first official Caucus to-day. Interviewed afterwards the Prime Minister, Hon. G. W. Forbes, said that the morning had been devoted to a discussion on the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Bill, the provisions of which were fully outlined by the Minister of Finance, the Rt. Hon. J.' G. Coates. The Prime Minister characterised the Caucus las one of the best yet held by th'e Coalition. There had been a friendly atmosphere througbout. The absentees from the Caucus were Messrs A. M. Samuel (Thames), R. A. Wright (Wellington Suburbs), W. A. Veitch (Wanganui) and D. McDougall (Mataura), none of whom received invitlations. Questioned regarding Mr. Samuel's absence Mr. Forbes said he knew nothing of the matter. The Whips issued invitations to the Caucus meetings.
