MAJESTIC THEATRE

TQ-NIGHT. There is a new thrill in this world — one to make'nioviegoers tingle with excitement. * It's "The Secret of the Blue Room" which' opened last night at the M'ajestic' Theatre. It has -the kick of a hob-nailed boot in every moment of its rousingly dramatic narrative. Distinguished Lionel Atwill, the noted stage star, demonstrafces with every last flourish just how; a sinister master of an aged castle can portray character so that an audience will be very nearly frightened out its wits at him. Paul Lucas and G-loria Stuart, Onslow Stevens, Edward Arnold, William Janney and the others of a cast of Hollywood greats all give flawless performanCgS.' The story concerns a luxurious sler ping chamber, the Blue Room which takes as its toll the lives of its ocI cupants, 'as a huge grandfather's clock strikes a grave-yard-dirge at one o'clock. I It would he completely out of the realm of fair-play to tell you any more about this excellent.picture, for it is one, whose mystery you will never solve until the author tells you. Suffice to say .that Paul Lukas is his usual good self in an arresting role and that Gloria Stuart does exceptionally well with the characterisation of the all-important girl in the case — (this is in addition to Mr. Atwill's superb portrayal. Onslow Stevens, the young man who made you laugh in "Once in a Lifetime" as the playwright who waited for months to see his boss, comes .toi you in a new sort of role. . Edward Arnold, the learned doctor of "Rasputin and the Empress,^'El:zabeth Patterson, Muriel Kirkland of the New York stage, William Janney, Anders van Haden and Russell Hopton .all contribute materially to the dramatic perfection of the vehicle.
