"WHITE EAGLE"
BUCK JONES FEATURED AS PONY EXPRESS ftlDER. BUCK JONfcS TR1UMPH. Variety of story seems to be the policy pursued by Columbia where their immensely popular Bhck Jones is concerned. Recently seen in a picture \yith the Canadian Royal North? west Mounted Police as a background for the aetion, and before that as a Tesas Rahger in "HelTo Tbohbl'e," > and'-a demon auto racer in "High Spee'd," Jones 'comes to the Grahd Theatre on Thursday, October 5, as an indian Pony Express ridei in "White Eagle/'- directed by Lambert Hillyer. Barbara Weeks has the featured f em- , inihfe/tole opposite the star. Here is all the action, romance, fast riding, quick shooting, intrigue and gorgeous mountain scenery that one has come to expect in western thrillers. But here too is a forecful star attd a truly believable >and entertain7 'ing story that lifts "Wh'ite Eagle" far out of the "thriller" class and mak'es of it a genuine special attt'actiqn, with a western background.
We thought that the last trac'e of a screen thrill disappeared from us With the recent animal pictures that have hit town, but it remained for "White Eagle" and Buck Jones' hand-to-hand figh't with a treacherOus mountain • lion, which he slays with a knife, to leave us abosletely limp and gasping. It is this fight which arouses a great feeling of admiration for the Indian braVe ih Janet's heart, an admiration that turns to love — and a love that is to be hard pressed to survive. As is Usual with Buck Jones pictures, the supporting cast is highclass. Jim Thorpe, famed Indian " athlete; Ward Bond, Frank Campeau, Rohert Ellis, Jason Robards and Bob Kortman head an impressive line-up.
