NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUED FOR A NEW TRADE TREATY LANCASHIRE WATCHING

London, Sept. 28. Representatives of the Government of India and Japan at Simla are still engaged in negotiations for a new trade agreement. A delegation of tflie Lancashijre textile industries is in attendance. The new agreemept is to replace the existing Indo-Japanese Trade Con vention of 1904, six months' notice of the termination of which will become effective on Octeber 10. It is understood the Japanese Ambassador in London has been informed that the Government of India is willing that the Convention should be prolonged and the exi'sting duties maintained at their present level for one month after October 10, 1933. If a fupther extension should he necessary, the Government of India would agree to an extension for a reasonable period thereater on terms to be arranged.
