-By Telegraph — Opyright).
Waihi, Thursday. A good deal of annoyance has been caused in the Waihi boTough by a strange and continued loss in the gas acpount. The station meter was recently sent to Wellington for repair and testing, but a month's trial shows that the loss still continues and that the meter had recorded correct readings. Reporting to the council 'last evening the manager, Mr. A. T. Harvey, stated that the pereentage of gas unaccounted for during August was 30.5 the estimated value of same heing £169. Discussion followed, and the Mayor, Mr. W. M. Wallnutt, suggested that before adopting any drastic action, all possible avenqes of meeting the position should be investigated. He moved that a report dealing with the whole question be obtained from Mr. H. W. Thomson^ a recognised "expert,^ and the resolution was carried.
