QUARTERLY MEETING DENNIS ENGINE CONVERTED TO USE OF PNEUMATIC TYRES SfUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT The quarterly meeting of the Rotorua Fire Bo'ard was held in the Fire Brigade Station last Friday, there being present Messrs F. Goodson (chairman), T. Jackson, G. H. French (loeal members), H. S. Malcolm and A. E. Moore (Auckland members) » Accoumts totalling £542 8s lld were passed for payment. The action of the finance committee in accepting Messrs M. Michelin and Coy's. tender for the conversion of the Dennis engine from the use of "solid tyres to pneumatic tyres was approved. The following quarterly report presented by the brigade sup'erintendent, Mr. T. Anderson, was read and adopted: — i Your brigade received eleven calls during the quarter, particulars. of which you will find on the forms provided for same. The plant is in good order. The change from solid to pneumatic tyres on No. 1. machine has been completed. There is a big improvement in the running of the machine and a marked difference in cornering, showing a considerable saving of time through being able to take the corners at a greater speed than before the change. The margin of safety has also been greatly increased. , The attendance of members at lall musters has been up to1 the usual high standard and much useful work has been carired out. Chaffeur's Report The No. 1 Dennis machine ran out 21 times, covermg 28j miles. Benzine consumption 191 gallons. No. 2 tender ran out twice land on every occasion both engines gave satisfactory results.
