FANG CHAN-WU'S CAVALRY DEFEATED NEAR PEKIN
(I-ress Assn.-
ANTI-GOVT. REVOLT
-By Telegraph — Copyright).
(Rec. 9.25 p.m.) Shanghai, Sept. 27. Fighting accurred yesterday 25 miles from Pekin when General Fang Chen-Wu's eavalry sought to enter Koallying but were defeated by a force of Government troops. Press reports state that the Japanese actually dropped bombs before the expiration of their ultimatum. To-day the de-militarised zone is reported to be ominonsly quiet. It is believed than Fang Chen-Wu's troops will be allowed to march toward the truce boundary where they will be disanned by Government troops and a small payment made for eaeh rifle. Fang's revolt is definitely anti-Gov-ernment and not anti-Japanese.
